Nighteyes is a grey wolf that Fitz frees from a market cage and binds to himself through the Wit, the animal magic loathed in the Six Duchies. Their bond runs far deeper than ordinary Wit-pairings: their thoughts merge, their instincts answer one another. Hunting companion, guardian and wild conscience, he calls Fitz his little brother and walks at his side through the harshest trials.
