Synopsis
Fifteen years have passed since the end of the conflict with the Red-Ship Raiders. Fitz lives in a secluded cottage, without Nighteyes, without the Fool. But one day, a traveler knocks at his door. Lord Golden bears another name, and new missions. The court of Buckkeep needs the bastard. Once again.
The opening volume of the second cycle is a half-tone return to the familiar lands of the Six Duchies. Peace reigns on the surface but the Wit is hunted, the Piebalds track its practitioners, and young Prince Dutiful harbors a secret that could tear the kingdom apart. Lord Golden — public mask of the Fool — entrusts Fitz with the mission of bringing back the young prince. But no journey with the Fool is ever simple.
Old pains never disappear. They simply learn to be silent.
