Synopsis

After their ascent up the river, the sea serpents have finally metamorphosed. But the creatures that emerge are crippled, degenerate, unable to fly. The Rain Wild Traders must rid themselves of them. An expedition is mounted to lead them to Kelsingra — the legendary city no one knows how to locate anymore.

Hobb opens a new cycle fifteen years after the previous one. The tone is resolutely different: more contemplative, more ecological, centered on young adults in search of meaning. The dragon keepers are themselves outcasts — marked by the Rain Wilds, they have scaled skin and silver eyes. This expedition is an initiatory journey into the heart of a changing world.
