Synopsis
A devastating flood separates the expedition. Tarman, the barge, and his crew must survive in the jungle. The dragons begin to show their true nature. And a forgotten Elderling city emerges from the mists.
First volume of Dragon Haven, this book tips the narrative into a more directly epic adventure. The flood, the isolation, the rediscovery of a forgotten city: it's a return to the fundamentals of exploration fantasy, without abandoning the psychological depth typical of Hobb.
The river does not carry only water. It carries destinies.
