Synopsis
The expedition climbs up the Rain Wild River, whose acid waters deeply mark those who frequent them. The keepers begin to mutate in contact with the dragons — their skin scales, their gaze silvers. The worry of the Bingtown Traders grows.
The volume of transformation. The keepers and their dragons begin to synchronize, opening the way to a rebirth of the Elderlings — that half-human half-dragon race whose ruins dot the Rain Wilds. But this molting is not without dangers, and several characters pay the price.
