Synopsis
The assault on Clerres. Bee's liberation. The last dream of the White Prophet. And at the threshold of everything, Fitz makes the choice that no one else could have made in his place. Conclusion twenty-three years after the first volume.
Absolute conclusion of the Realm of the Elderlings saga. Twenty-three years after Assassin's Apprentice, Hobb closes her work with overwhelming intensity. Fitz's destiny — the one the White Prophets traced without ever telling him — is fulfilled. The last volume is a radical act of love from the author toward her readers: everything is resolved, without concession, in pain and in transformation. One of the greatest finales in fantasy.
I am not dead. I have become.
