Synopsis
Verity has found the Elderlings. But their secret is terrible: the stone dragons sleep in the quarry, waiting for heroes to lend them their souls. To save the Six Duchies, Fitz must accept the ultimate sacrifice — and perhaps abandon everything that made him human.
A grandiose finale of the first trilogy, La Reine Solitaire confronts every character with their choices. Verity, Kettricken, Fitz, the Fool, Nighteyes, Burrich: all must give up something for the Six Duchies to survive. The final battle sees the birth of the stone dragons, creatures of terrifying majesty, and establishes a new pact between the Elderlings and humans. But the bastard will have no place in the official story.
